Kawa Cares: A Program for Accessibility and Inclusion

Kawa Cares is a dedicated program designed to help ensure that all attendees with disabilities or additional needs can enjoy the convention experience in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. This initiative emphasizes accessibility, support, and accommodations tailored to individual needs, making the event an enriching and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Program Features:

3. Quiet Zones

   • Designated spaces for attendees needing a break from sensory stimulation.

   • Comfortable seating, low lighting, and minimal noise.
      

4. Priority Access

   • Reserved or priority seating support at panels, performances, and workshops where available.

   • Early entry options for those requiring extra time to settle in.
      

5. Emergency Assistance

   • On-site staff support for urgent needs and emergency assistance.

   • Clear procedures for emergency evacuations for attendees with mobility challenges.

 

Requirements to Participate in Kawa Cares:

• Pre-Registration: Attendees are encouraged to pre-register for the Kawa Cares program so our team can review requests in advance and prepare support where possible.

 

• Communication of Needs: Participants must provide details about specific accommodations required (e.g., wheelchair-accessible seating, resting space, etc.).

 

• On-Site Check-In: Upon arrival, attendees should visit the Kawa Cares table in the Registration Hall to receive an accessibility marker and confirm assistance preferences.

 

• Respect and Inclusivity: All participants are expected to follow the convention’s code of conduct, fostering a respectful and supportive atmosphere for everyone.
