Kawa Cares: A Program for Accessibility and Inclusion

Kawa Cares is a dedicated program designed to ensure that all attendees with disabilities or additional needs can enjoy the convention experience in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. This initiative emphasizes accessibility, support, and accommodations tailored to individual needs, making the event an enriching and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Kawa Cares offers a range of services, including mobility assistance, quiet zones, priority seating, adaptive workshops, and personalized support to ensure attendees feel empowered and included. By fostering a culture of respect and understanding, Kawa Cares reflects the convention’s commitment to accessibility and community.     • Reserved seating at panels, performances, and workshops.

    • Early entry options for those requiring extra time to settle in.

    • Adaptive workshops and activities for all ability levels.

    • ASL interpreters available for VA panels.
       

  6. Emergency Assistance

    • Medical staff on-site for urgent needs.

    • Clear procedures for emergency evacuations for attendees with mobility challenges.

 

Requirements to Participate in Kawa Cares:

  • Pre-Registration: Attendees are encouraged to pre-register for the Kawa Cares program to ensure their needs are met during the event.

 

  • Communication of Needs: Participants must provide details about specific accommodations required (e.g., ASL interpreters, wheelchair-accessible seating).

 

  • On-Site Check-In: Visit the Kawa Cares booth upon arrival to receive an accessibility marker and confirm assistance preferences.

 

  • Respect and Inclusivity: All participants are expected to follow the convention’s code of conduct, fostering a respectful and supportive atmosphere for everyone.
